Jerry Edwards

Born in New York City, Jerry Edwards was one of the first African American scientists to have a responsible position in the Federal Government, as Supervisory Physicist with the U.S. Army. Jerry began playing jazz and blues in 1943. From 1950 to 1954, he played guitar with a jazz band called "The Chords." From 1970 to 1982 in New Jersey, he played bass guitar with the “Soul Esquires" and the "Versatile Esquires." Jerry has been living in Myrtle Beach, SC since 1989. He has played the House of Blues as well as Citroen Bistro during the New Orleans Jazz Festival. In 2007, he had a gig at the New Orleans Connection, a nightclub in North Myrtle Beach, SC.  From August 2009, he has had a regular gig on Friday nights at Alluette's Jazz Cafe in Charleston, SC, recently written up in Southern Living Magazine.
